Project

Worked on an independent project as part of Google's UX Design Professional Certificate offered on Coursera. I chose to design a "food delivery app for a food truck" from a design prompt. During the pandemic, I conceptualized a food truck based in Melbourne aiming to reach its loyal customer base even in lockdown.

Research

I conducted a survey and received 17 responses and 5 interviews, spoke to 2 food truck owners, and analyzed a few competitors like food truck apps and food delivery apps to understand the major trends and pain points.

Key Findings

  • Users want to customize their orders as much as possible

  • The ability to contact the food place is highly valued

  • Users prefer to have the option to cancel their order/s

  • Ratings and reviews are of utmost importance

Problem

Based on the concept and initial research, I drafted the problem statement. "Busy professionals often rely on quick bites as they do not have time to cook. Food trucks are a great place to grab quick bites but queues can be exhausting. Also, the currently available delivery apps do not list food trucks and do not provide key information, and lack customer support."

Solution

The final solution is aimed at designing a food delivery app that is easy to navigate. It helps users to customize their orders, contact the food truck and cancel the order within 30 seconds, and browse through the offers. Additionally, it offers accessibility features with language, color, and negative space.

Result

90% of the participating users expressed that the solution is revolutionary and addresses the pain points effectively. "The 'Today's Special' tab is a cherry on top," they said.
